Health and housing are intimately linked. A high-quality home is an investment that can be affordable. Many highly-trained professionals must work together to make housing safe and healthy. These professionals include contractors and builders, code and housing inspectors, and environmental health officers and injury control specialists. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development collaborates with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure that homes are healthy and safe. Public housing is a great place to live if you cannot afford to buy a house.

HOUSING encompasses any structure for human habitation. Whether it is a simple house or a large, multi-family apartment, housing is an important human right. The right to housing extends beyond the physical structure, however. Without adequate housing, people will suffer health problems, poverty, and reduced quality of life. It is the responsibility of government agencies to provide housing for all people. It is important to note that housing can be different for different cultures.

In the U.S., housing is defined as “a building intended for residential purposes that meets the needs of a community”. In other countries, it is more broadly defined as a type of shelter or family dwelling. In developing countries, this can include seasonal or permanent structures. For example, in Tanzania, these homes are a unique type of living space that is shaped like a bird. In the United States, HOUSING authorities are responsible for the construction of new buildings in a particular region.

A housing project is a government-funded undertaking with the objective of providing decent living arrangements to low-moderate-income persons. The project may include the construction and maintenance of buildings, land, and desirable appurtenances. It may also include administrative purposes and site preparation. The construction of a seasonal dwelling may involve tearing down an existing structure, constructing a new one, or reconstructing an existing one. These projects are often part of a larger social welfare program.

The construction of seasonal dwellings is considered seminomadic and tribal. These seasonal dwellings are often referred to as “seasonal” for the lack of winter. These structures are not permanently affixed to a land. The project includes land and buildings used for the purpose of shelter.
